This little reel outperforms many of the big names in slow pitch jigging

I'm a recreational offshore fisherman who typically fishes about 2 - 4 times per month; and when I do, I focus on SPJ. On average, when I fish, I take three SPJ rod/reel set up, which allows me to compare the performance of the reels (and rods). Based on my experiments, the Gomexus LX50 (and its sibling the SX450) is right up there with some of the big names in SPJ, including Shimano and Accurate. While it's true that it's not as smooth as either the flagship Shimano or Accurate reels, it's right up there with them, or better, in terms of inches per turn (crank). Additionally, it is STRONG AND POWERFUL. And, after all, that's really what you need in a slow pitch jigging reel, along with light-weightedness and a reliable and solid drag, which the LX50 possesses.

I love my new reel. I having many reels and this was bought to fish in Boston for sea bass and porkies. It really out performed my expectations and al my friend now want one. The power and ratio per crank brought the fish up fast. I would definitely purchase again
